Paddy procurement to begin in Chhattisgarh from November 1

Raipur-Today, Chief Secretary Mr.Amitabh Jain chaired a review meeting regarding the preparations for paddy procurement that will begin on November 1, 2022. The meeting was held at Mantralaya Mahanadi Bhawan with all the Divisional Commissioners, and District Collectors connected through video conferencing. He instructed all the district collectors to complete all the necessary preparations for paddy procurement within the stipulated time limit.

He laid special emphasis on the correction of ‘Girdawari’(information related to crop and land under cultivation) and getting it verified from the gram sabha.

The Chief Secretary told the district collectors to ensure that under no circumstances the government land should not be registered for paddy cultivation. Linked bank accounts of registered farmers should be checked and also pay special attention to link bank accounts of such farmers who have been transferred, and partitioned this year. Instructions have also been given to make proper arrangements for depositing the fortified rice procured by the millers in FCI. Regarding inter-district custom milling, the Chief Secretary has instructed to transport paddy for milling to the other district which has more millers and directed to prepare an action plan in advance.

Addressing the meeting, he instructed all the District Collectors to make all necessary arrangements for human resources, electricity, water, cap cover, platform, token, weighing machine, gunny bags etc. at the paddy procurement centres at the earliest. Mr.Jain has directed the Secretary of the Food Department to take a meeting at the divisional level to review the preparations of all the districts before paddy procurement begins and give necessary directions to ensure that the paddy procurement process should systematically take place.


He said information should be properly checked and filled in about the sale of paddy and area under cultivation in the ‘Girdawari’ of the registered farmers. He has given instructions to specially mark the information of farmers taking other crops in place of paddy this year as compared to previous years. Similarly, registration of farmers for paddy procurement, bank accounts verification, necessary preparation at the committee level, the status of the contract with the transporter, custom milling, identification of sensitive procurement centres and staff, and inter-district custom milling should be ensured before the beginning of paddy procurement.

He instructed to conduct and complete the training for all the employees involved in the paddy procurement process at the committee level. He also instructed to carry out physical verification of the gunny bags purchased and the quantity of paddy procured at the end of each week. Instructions have been given to set up a control room with all the information related to paddy procurement at the district level and said that it should remain active all time.

This meeting was organized through video conferencing, in which all the Divisional Commissioners, Collectors of all the districts, Food Department Secretary Mr. Topeshwar Verma, Revenue Secretary Mr. N.N. Ekka, Managing Director State Civil Supplies Corporation Mr.Niranjan Das, Special Secretary Cooperative Department Mr.Himshikhar Gupta, Special Secretary (Directorate of Food Civil Supplies & Consumer Protection Department) Mr.Manoj Soni, Managing Director MARKFED Mr.Sameer Vishnoi along with officers of Apex Bank were present.
