hawksmoor restaurant: Hawksmoor opens its second U.S. restaurant in Chicago. (27 June).

The new location is a key step in the Steak Restaurant Group international growth plan to open world-class restaurants in world-class cities, which is currently focused on North America.

It follows Hawksmoor first US site, which opened in New York City Flatiron District in 2021, and the launch of another international site in Dublin in 2023.

The opening comes as the group remains on target to clear £100m in sales this year, along with continued like-for-like growth.

The Chicago location spans 16,500 square feet and three stories – Hawksmoor largest and most ambitious yet – and can seat more than 200 diners.

It is located at 500 LaSalle Drive in a building that was a former streetcar powerhouse during the heyday of Chicago cable car system in 1998. The building also housed basketball player Michael Jordan restaurant of the same name in the 1990s.

The site has a main dining room that can host up to 125 diners, with a wraparound bar for extra space for those looking for cocktails or small plates.

A second dining room on the first floor has space for 76 guests, as well as two private dining rooms on site that can host 40 more guests. hawksmoor restaurant

As the UK first B Corp restaurant brand and the world first steak business to be certified as carbon-neutral, Hawksmoor American restaurants operate with the same mindset, echoing its exceptional ethical and sustainability credentials. The business works with like-minded farmers who raise cattle according to Hawksmoor standards, and also works with suppliers who provide fresh ingredients locally where possible.

Hawksmoor has partnered with Pilot Light – a motivational food education nonprofit founded in Chicago that invests in teacher leadership to create lasting change for students and the food system. In addition to the initial donation, Hawksmoor is planning fundraising and volunteer opportunities.

The group opened its first site in Spitalfields, east London, in 2006 and has opened 12 more sites in London, Manchester, Liverpool, New York City, Dublin and now Chicago.

One of the greatest joys of our working lives is opening world-class restaurants in world-class cities, bringing incredible steaks, seafood, cocktails and wines to diners around the world, Hawksmoor co-founder and CEO Will Beckett said. Chicago is one of the meat capitals of the world and, like New York City, is home to some of the best steakhouses. It has one of the biggest hospitality scenes, where food and drink are baked into the city culture, and it incredibly exciting for Hawksmoor to be a part of it. It has been heartbreaking for Hugh and I to receive such a warm welcome from Chicagoans and so many messages of support and pride from our colleagues and guests in the UK and Ireland. hawksmoor restaurant

Over the years we have learnt to keep our vision high in terms of both growth and honesty with which we want to build our company. We believe Hawksmoor has the potential to become one of the world great restaurant brands, and Chicago is an important step as we continue to develop our presence in the United States. We’re as passionate about the business now as we were when we started 18 years ago, and we can’t wait to welcome Chicagoans to a restaurant that we hope will become a local institution.
