In the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, Mumbai Indians team is once again in controversy regarding the toss. People have raised questions on social media over the coin not being shown on camera during the toss against Kolkata Knight Riders on Friday.
Mumbai captain Hardik Pandya tossed the coin against Kolkata at Wankhede, after which Shreyas Iyer called heads, but the match referee said that tails had come. That means Hardik has won the toss. However, before the camera could reach the coin, the referee had already picked up the coin and given the decision. IPL has tweeted a video of the toss, on which people have raised questions.
Questions were raised even during the match against Bengaluru
Earlier, questions were raised regarding the toss in the match between Mumbai and Bengaluru. In that match, Mumbai captain Pandya had tossed the coin very far. Which was only seen by the match referee Javagal Srinath and told that Mumbai had won the toss. Later, during the toss in the match against Hyderabad, Bengaluru captain Faf du Plessis was seen telling the whole story to SRH captain Pat Cummins.
Kolkata defeated Mumbai
The team was defeated by Kolkata Knight Riders by 24 runs on Friday at Wankhede. Kolkata defeated Mumbai after 12 years at Wankhede ground. Kolkata’s last win against Mumbai on this ground was in 2012. Five-time champion Mumbai Indians is out of the playoff race of IPL-2024.
Mumbai won the toss and chose bowling at home ground. Kolkata was all out for 169 runs in 19.5 overs. In reply, Mumbai was all out for 145 runs in 18.5 overs. Mitchell Starc took 4 wickets, while Venkatesh Iyer scored 70 runs on 52 balls. He was chosen player of the match.
